SACRED SITE
In 1997, on our second trip to Patara, on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, the Landmarks Foundation discovered a beautiful small temple dedicated to Apollo in eminent danger of collapse. Emergency measures were needed immediately and we donated the $4000 required to prepare the site and give access to the equipment that would save the structure which had been sacred during the ancient Lycian, Greek, and roman occupation of this important maritime center.

GOALS
The Landmarks Foundation's mission is to protect Sacred Sites so that they can be preserved for possible later restoration.

SUCCESS
This small emergency intervention is among our most successful, as surely this temple would be rubble, but was not when we visited it in 2005.
